Clear Your Sinuses
One of the most common symptoms of having a head cold is your inability to breathe. One easy sinus clearing recipe is to bring fresh mint, rosemary, and clove to a boil and breathe in the powerful vapour from these herbs to help unclog congested sinuses.
Fight the Sniffles
Everyone knows how annoying it can be to constantly have to leave a room to blow your nose. Help fight the sniffles by ingestion garlic in its most natural form. Garlic contains antioxidants that help to boost your immune system and cure a runny nose.
Cough Syrup
No one wants to be that person coughing up a lung in the middle of the office. Help get rid of your cough with three tablespoons of fresh lemon juice (a natural anti-bacterial), one cup of honey (to soothe your throat and help fight fatigue), and a quarter cup of warm water. Take one tablespoon at a time, as needed to suppress your cough.
Soothe a Sore Throat and Sweat Out a Fever
Now this is a fun one! Combine one ounce of whiskey with one tablespoon of honey, three tablespoons of lemon, and tea such as chamomile or mint. This concoction packs a punch, but will help you feel energized (thanks to the honey), soothe your throat, and sweat out your fever.
Relieve Congestion and Inflammation
Studies show that your mom was right: Chicken soup really is good for curing a cold. Not only does it help fight inflammation, but it also relieves congestion. Make your own broth by simmering a chicken carcass in boiling water for about 12 hours along with your choice of vegetables. How about some garlic? (See “Fight the Sniffles”).
